Working with agents · MCP v2
Give your agent an eye for art.
Search open-access art by meaning, exact color, visual reference, geometry, deliverable size, Art Genome, artist, institution, date, and rights—then curate a varied set and retrieve public assets with credits and portable provenance.
The preferred explore_art_mcp.v2 contract keeps
hard filters, ranking preferences, and shortlist selection explicit.

Let the agent work beside you.
In a compatible browser host, the page shares its current gallery, colors, references, and selected crop. Search tools update the visible gallery once with the final order.

From a hunch
to a useful shortlist.
Explore Art MCP keeps discovery, visual evidence, rights, and files in one traceable workflow.
-
01
Rank by a feeling
Keep playful, asymmetrical, quiet, uncanny, or lush as semantic preferences—not brittle hidden filters.
-
02
Make constraints exact
Add catalog facts, color coverage, orientation, aspect ratio, minimum public resolution, and reuse scope.
-
03
Find by looking, then fit
Weight up to six published visual references or search a selected region, then compare public derivatives for cover or contain fit and upscaling.
-
04
Shape the shortlist
Cap repeated artists, institutions, or sources and request deterministic visual diversity within the first 100 engine-ranked candidates.
-
05
Pull a dependable batch
Request representation-guarded manifests for up to 20 works, with allowlisted 400, 843, or 4096 derivatives and provider-native high-resolution locators when available.
-
06
Carry the provenance
Keep the exact MCP request, engine/preference/selection stages, representation dimensions, embedding identity, rights source, assets, hashes, and credits together.
03
Color is not
just a keyword.
Search a family, one of 170 authored names, any hex, or a saved artwork swatch. Combine up to six criteria with exact AND, OR, and NOT behavior.
Then express palette direction separately: blend with a brand color, find its complement, build contrast, or look for a small contrasting pop.

A zero-result hard gate stays zero. Nearby coverage counts may be reported, but the agent must make another call to change the constraint.
